Biochemistry

Biochemistry

If you ask, “What is the biggest difference that sets the Center for Advanced Medicine apart?” The answer is simple; Biochemistry and Toxicology!

Biochemistry supports the chemical processes and reactions that take place within the living organisms of the body and Toxicology suppresses it.

A healthy body maintains a delicate balance between all the body systems and how they react, interact and work together.

The body is made up of nutrients and regulated by enzymes and hormones.

Nutrients fall into 2 categories:

Macro Nutrients: an example Water and Air

  • Proteins
  • Carbohydrates
  • Fatty Acids
  • Fiber
  • Minerals

Micro Nutrients:

  • Trace Minerals
  • Vitamins
  • Enzymes and more

If any of these nutrients are out of balance or deficient early warning signs (pain, brain fog, low energy, indigestion, sleeplessness, mood swings) can be present. This could indicate that there is an imbalance of the biochemistry of the body. Understanding what the imbalances are and how to correct them is our expertise. If you have a headache the body isn’t deficient in aspirin. Something has caused an imbalance and the body is reacting.

Biochemistry is also the study of the structure, composition, and chemical reactions of substances in living systems.

A good example of understanding Biochemistry is low potassium (a mineral) levels can cause;

  • Anxiety
  • Fast beating heart
  • Afternoon fatigue
  • Cramping
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Lower back pain

Our Biochemical approach gets us to the root cause avoiding the over use of medications/treatments.

The following is an example of the benefit of our biochemical approach to diagnosis:

A patient was told by her medical doctor that her body was producing too much iron. She was told she would have to have blood withdrawn once a week for approximately 1 year to correct the problem. Dr. Kellas reviewed her lab work, from a biochemical perspective, and concluded the patient was low on copper. After 5 days of using a copper supplement, her iron levels returned to normal, no longer needing to have her blood withdrawn.

We believe it is a biochemically balanced body that produces a healthy body and we can help achieve that.
