Franne Berez, MD ND

Franne is our newest addition to our elite medical team. Prior founder and Director of the Squirrel Hill Family Wellness Center, she is among less than 300 doctors in the US board certified in Functional Medicine by the Institute of Functional Medicine, in Integrative Medicine by the ABIHM, and is considered a pioneer in integrative family wellness in Pittsburgh. She first received her naturopathic degree in 1976 from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Seattle Washington. Then she went on to complete her traditional medical training and her Family Practice Residency in 1987 at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, PA. She has been in private practice since 1987. She practices medicine based on the natural laws of healing and has incorporated the best principles of Family Medicine, which include continuity of care through all life stages, with homeopathy, naturopathy and functional medicine. She follows her patients as they move through each season—from the prenatal stage, through infancy, childhood, adolescence and puberty, young adulthood, perimenopause and menopause, andropause, healthful aging and respectful death and dying. She has treated generations of families and has extensive experience in understanding familial patterns and predispositions

A few of her favorite areas of expertise include:

  • Preconception counseling
  • Developmental and behavioral problems in children and adolescents
  • Hormonal imbalances for men and women in all age groups with a special interest in thyroid, hypothalamic, pituitary, adrenal imbalances and sexual organ dysfunction
  • Fat resistance or simply the inability to lose and maintain weight loss
  • Digestive imbalances and food sensitivities
  • Autoimmune-related issues
  • Energy imbalances

”It is Dr. Berez’ vision that as we educate our current generations in preventative medicine and the balanced use of conventional and complementary and self-care medicine, we will see in time a decline in chronic diseases and illnesses.”
